HUNDRED YEAR STORM now available on iTunes!

June 25, 2009

The new album from HUNDRED YEAR STORM The Future Belongs to the Brave is now available on iTunes. Buy it here and get all 12 tracks for $9.99.

The record has been getting great reviews, here’s the latest from HM Magazine:

“Hundred Year Storm’s latest offering is a curious mixture of spoken, played and sung sounds. Opener, “Lift Your Voices,” includes what sounds like a preacher preaching, as well as a woman reading Scripture, before morphing into an emotional semi-praise song. The work ends with “Come Broken Heroes,” which holds out hope to all, like The Statue of Liberty or Ellis Island. Concluding a work that details the harsh, cold world we live in, its lyric suggests all is not lost, “Don’t give up hope / Because your ship’s run aground / There’s still light in your eyes / And hope on these shores.” And when the band begins to sing repeated hallelujahs, you realize this home for broken heroes may well be heaven itself. The Future Belongs to the Brave is a layered and heartfelt effort, which makes Hundred Year Storm’s two-year hiatus worth the wait. 4/5″

HUNDRED YEAR STORM: new songs up, pre-orders begin

April 10, 2009

June 9th marks the return of HUNDRED YEAR STORM.

After a two year hiatus from an exhaustive amount of touring (400 shows in 3 years), the band is poised to return with their 12-track epic opus The Future Belongs To The Brave. Their signature space-rock sound has been redefined around themes for our current times: recession, war, disasters and personal loss. Despite the feelings many associate with these, the message of The Future… is one of confidence, anticipation, optimism and the facing towards a new horizon. With destruction surrounding us, whether it is literal or metaphysical, addressing these events we are reminded ‘nothing ends here, our hopes and our journeys continue’.

Engineered and mastered by David Dreesen (Knockout Kings, widows&orphans), The Future… soars to HUNDRED YEAR STORMS‘ familiar heights but takes time to come back to earth for more somber passages that it’s intense subject matter demands. From the powerful opening chords of “Look to the Skies” to the aural collage of “Dying Giant” and refrain of “Come Broken Heroes” this is the band’s finest hour.

Hear the first three tracks on the HYS MySpace.

Pre-order the full length in the DHR store.
